Phoenix Monthly Roundup: April
The Phoenix Is Rising
Lot’s going on here at the Brewery, the team continue to brew brilliant ales, gaining great feedback from both new and old customers, smiles all round. We have new Brews incoming; our Brewers are keen to try new recipes, new ingredients and have a calendar of Collabs to look forward to this year.
Planning permission granted (celebration dance) for the opening of the site and greatly anticipated Brewery Tap, we can’t wait to welcome you all!

Bottles
‘Clink, Cheers!’ Bottling success, we have now launched 4 of our most popular classic ales in bottles. On sale on our online store, from the ‘Hatch’ at the Brewery and in many of our customers Bars, Bottle Shops, Farmers Markets and Local Newsagents. The start of more bottled brews to come. Steve is eager to explore the world of bottle conditioning brews, experimenting with new premium limited-edition offerings and potentially looking to bring back long-lost recipes from our archives.

Collaboration Brew – Picnix with Pictish Brewery
Our first recent Collab brew, with our good friends over at Pictish Brewery, Rochdale. Paul and Martin joined us here for the day, to brew with Andrew and Graeme. A great experience, swapping tips and tricks, a fair bit of taste testing and a good old chat.
Together they created a delicious English hopped strong Pale Ale, brewed with Harlequin and Olicana hops.
The beer was showcased at Oldham Beer Festival 2024, winning 2nd place overall. Cheers to that, looking forward to many more Collabs, a great experience and the brew sold out incredibly fast! Thanks again to Pictish Brewery.

The return of Monkeytown Mild, to celebrate ‘Mild in May’.
Every May CAMRA branches across the country celebrate ‘Mild May’, an initiative to celebrate and highlight the beer style Mild, which was recently under threat of extinction, due to a drop in popularity.
To help revive the Mild beer style, CAMRA encourage local pubs to have at least one Mild on the handpumps during the month of May, and some organise trips to pubs and breweries that embrace and support the beer style.
So, to do our bit, we have of course brewed our easy-drinking and thirst-quenching Monkeytown Mild. Brewed with specialised Mild Ale Malt, produced by local independent Yorkshire family maltsters Thomas Fawcett and sons.
Monkeytown Mild is a real tribute to a British brewing heritage. Long Live ‘Mild’ a style that we are proud to be supporting to this day. We hope you enjoy!
Do you recognise ‘Monkeytown’ as the nickname of our hometown Heywood?
